On February 24, 2007, the day the term “cloud computing” was coined.  Why is it important for consumers, business owners in the SMB and large sector and what are the key points you need to know about it?

According to Merrill Lynch: Cloud Computing Market Will Reach $160 Billion by 2011 …  “The estimate includes $95 billion in business and productivity applications and the remaining $65 billion to be spent on online advertising”. Where it is 100B or 150B, it is am massive business considering an Adobe, a giant in the software industry has a Market Cap of 18B.

Even U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration is keen on cloud computing. We all need to cut costs and as we all know, good hardware is not cheap and does become out of date by the time you have it up and running. Then you need to make sure the software and its licence costs are accessible for use by your staff and fully functional.

The way to manage all of this in a scalable, cost effective way whilst having access to cutting edge hardware and software is here. We all use it and yet most of us don’t even realize it: Cloud Computing.

Flying back from a vacation in Boracay, I was surprised to read about what may probably be a little known fact … that the oceanic area ranging from Singapore to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and the Solomon Islands covering 23 Million square Kilometers represents the richest and one of most important Coral Reef regions of the world. This eco system is a critical breeding ground and nursery for about 75% of the world corals with commensurate bio diversity of thousands of species per square Kilometer according to the WWF. It also creates livelihoods for over 100 Million people living in the area.

75 percent of all known coral species did I just say?? Part of me is still coming to grips with it. It also makes up more than half of the world’s reefs … again yes, the whole wide world. Within this sustenance rich eco systems lives 40 percent of the world’s coral reef fish species, and six of the world’s seven species of marine turtle, 51 of the world’s 70 mangrove species and 23 of the 50 sea grass species.

The Environment is so Hot right now … pardon the Pun!

Wherever I turn and look, articles, documentaries and discussion points are mounting and the public’s mind and attention is Galvanizing when it comes to saving our Planet. Soon we will hopefully have Critical Mass such that there is enough of a quantum consciousness shift in the minds of people. Its not too late to make a difference and this does not mean becoming a hemp wearing hippie or to curb our lifestyle.

We should NO longer pollute and throw away as we used to. It is a shame that most governments seem to either be lacking in initiatives, thought leadership or simply don’t care! Living in Asia, I can see countless opportunities for people to put their rubbish into a few bins. A defacto accepted standard in Australia where I lived for many years, I can’t seem to be able to recycle my bottles of wine or sauce. And yet, I apparently live in one of the most forward thinking … (read on)

Hello Folks,

I wanted to start talking about issues that do really matter to me. I wanted to add some of my own personal perspective on what is going on in the world today. This is Crisis that will affect our children and many generations to come ahead and then some. Living in one of the World’s most polluted cities, I feel the effects of pollution and crowded unsustainable consumerism. For someone like me who loves gadgets and as with everyone else likes a good time, I honestly feel uneasy about consuming resources. This does not mean I don’t want to have stuff – but there has been a quantifiable shift in my thinking and actions, going forward. Please (click here) to read on …

I have a series of 2 words for you …. Consumer Sentiment, Fear and Safety, Confidence and Doubt … and the list goes on. There is a lot of information and discussion regarding the Financial Debarcle-Crisis-Tsunami and so on Bloomberg and related channels. What I want to talk about is the chain of events, the human emotions and actions that led to the situation that is still affecting the world today.

What that you say??

Yes, I sobered up from an evening of drinking at Inside Out at Causeway Bay and having a good old time eating seafood and finally ended up at Kareoke at Wan Chai. We all work and live such intensely busy lives and making time to just relax is so important and ever so previous. Time and saving time to make time to just be me is hard …

Hello Folks, its been a long long time since I wanted to first clean up my Blog, spend some decent time adding a new well overdue articles and finally talk about what I am passionate about … yes Technology!

I had a breakthrough and realised what I needed to have an iPhone .. specifically a 3GS.

Ordered it online a week ago and waiting impatiently for it to come in the mail.

Stores don’t stock it yet in HK as the “3″ network here has what appears  to be a head start on the release to those who may want simply buy the iPhone 3GS outright – sans contrat, rien, pas to crappie contract qui prends 2 ans de ta vie!

… anyhow, in this blog, I wanted to talk about the mechanics that allowed the iPhone to start late in the mobile Phone game and simply dominate the hears and minds of those who value on the go Tele-Computing.
