Cloud Computing

Office suite in the air, … now in your hand

There is so much I will be blogging about Google and so little time.

Where to begin … I guess that Google could provide me with a lot of material and in fact we will be talking about cloud computing in the coming posts.

The are indeed several steps to making Cloud accepted, pervasive and most importantly unobstrusive. Mobile platforms can be one of those gateways. This is what I am led to think regards future steps and trends in the adoption of Cloud and the computing platforms that will encourage its adoption.

I was watching Peter Chou, the CEO of Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC being interviewed on Bloomberg last night.

He confirmed they are launching the Andriod Phone on behalf of Google .. no doubt with their own Chrome Mobile browser!

What this could mean is that Google’s “Cloud Computing” otherwise known as Google Docs http://docs.google.com/# … can go mobile as well.

For emerging markets like India and China, you will not need to save for a laptop to benefit for office solutions and no need to buy MS Office CE or MS Office either.

Bad news once more for Microsoft … as this seriously threatens their B-C and B-B product line of productivity software & engagement platforms which what consumer identify them with.

Which explains why they were so driven to buy Yahoo … Yahoo could provide them with a set of Consumer interface platforms with Yahoo users in the hundreds of millions to evolve their business model and match swords with Google.

If there is a way to focus people’s attention online via “free” services/applications/content, you can bet that there a monetisation outcome underpinning that very freeness. When it comes to content, is it then truly objective and independent?

Your comments are welcome!

Dan
